So you’ve been thinking about creating an online course or videos for marketing your business, but you know it’s a lot of work and with your busy work schedule you are not sure how to fit it in.
So how do you do it? Let’s see if we can figure that out, today! Watch The Video, Listen, or Read Below!Hi Katrina Marie here. In today's video we're going to address the question “How to fit in and making videos when working full time”. So if you're anything like me then you're busy. If you're an entrepreneur, an artist, a business owner, a coach, a Mompreneur, then it you know how busy it can be. You might be working in your own business all the time or you might be working for somebody else full time already and this whole idea of making videos just seems super overwhelming. I mean, how are you really going to fit in making videos when you're already working 40 hours a week. I totally get it, being a mom to four, ages two to 18 and having a full time business that I work in right here. I create online courses. I teach video producing an online course creation, branding and I also have other courses that teach fashion design and sewing to girls and teens as well as a couple others, so I'm not going to go through them all. But, there is a lot of setting up online, there's a lot of automation, there's a lot of video, there's a lot of editing, there's a lot that goes into it. But do I think it's possible to do it? Absolutely. So let's actually go through and figure out how you can make this work into your full time schedule that you already have. I want you to ask yourself a few different questions.
#1 - What could you stop doing for a while?
The first question or topic that I want to address is anytime your cup (or your life is full), you need to make room. You need to pour some of it out. Y You have to make room to add something. So what are you doing that you could stop doing for awhile?
Of course I know how long it takes to cook dinner, so maybe you know, it's the same amount of time, but maybe if somebody else was cooking dinner, like your husband was helping out or something, then maybe you could then spend that time working on courses. Are you watching Netflix every night? I know I often wish that I could do that. I don't, but maybe you are. Maybe that is kind of an addiction for you. I know how addicting it can be. Maybe you're working 40 hours a week and you have a full time job and I understand there's travel time. If you're going somewhere else to work. I traveled to my studio to work here. Maybe you want to unwind when you get home and so maybe you just decide to watch netflix. Maybe you watch Netflix with your husband, but if you are trying to venture out and do something new, then like I said, you have to make time for it.
So maybe there's something that you're doing. Most people say that business owners, and entrepreneurs, spend too much time in their inbox actually, like cleaning it out. Maybe that's you too. Are you spending extra time somewhere doing something that makes you feel like you're busy? Maybe you feel like you're doing something, but maybe you could cut that out. Then maybe you could find yourself an extra hour or so, a day to make videos. So how can you make some room in your schedule? What has to give?
#2 - Can you hire somebody else to help you?
So maybe hiring a VA or an assistant, a friend, a mom, so that you just have a little more time in your business or your nine to five workday. You can't necessarily do this if you're working somewhere else for somebody else, but if you have your own business, which probably you do if you're watching this, then what are some tasks that maybe you can hire out. Can you spend maybe $100 a week to have somebody else to do those tasks for you, so that you can then add making videos into your life or your business. The one thing that you cannot have somebody do for you is be you on video. But can you have them do one of these things:
Now, I know that maybe video editing is not your job right now, but it's your business. You got to think about what it is that you can get help with. Is there something that you can hire out? Can you get an assistant to do some of that stuff that you don't really like doing? Can you like make a video and show them how to do it? I've done that for VA's in other countries. I've just filmed a little video to show them how to do the task and then boom, all of a sudden I've got five hours to 10 hours more a week.
#3 - Is it possible to get up a little bit earlier?
Now I totally understand as a mom to three nursing babies (over the last 10 years), staying up at night, I know that this can be hard. But if you're not in that situation, which you're probably not, maybe it is possible to get up a little bit earlier. If you're able to get up a little bit earlier than you might be able to squeeze in videos before going to work or maybe you stay up a little later. Somehow you've got to work on your schedule and figure out how to do it. I have heard stories about people actually getting up earlier, an hour earlier and filming their videos in their basement while their kids were still asleep. So this is possible. Maybe that would work for you. Maybe you can just do it for a little bit of time. It doesn't have to be forever. Maybe just to get some videos underway maybe while you're trying to find somebody to help you. Then once you have some help, then you can add it into your day. And then once you're doing it, it's part of your day and you're good to go. Okay, those are my three tips. Hopefully one of those could work for you. You've just got to do what you've got to do. I do understand that we're all very busy, but we do make time for what's important. So if making videos for your business is important, then I'm sure you can figure out how to juggle things around and make time for this.
